Default Cheapest exhaust system.

With all these talks about the Mugen Twinloop and the Spoon N1s - all of which I cannot afford - I was wondering what would be an inexpensive alternative? I did a search, and saw many good things about Magnaflow... Quiet, quality, and cheap. The only mod I have now is the comptech icebox, and don't plan on getting (affording) any headers anytime soon... Coming from a Legend that had a thermal research exhaust, I miss the roar of the car. Should I just get a Comptech axle back exhaust system? Or a full catback Magnaflow? Also, what do you think of keeping the stock ITR exhaust and changing the pipes? Keeping in mind, good sound and good price.

Thanks in advance.

I love the sound of my Comptech, nice and deep. Not very loud.

I've been recommended to just go with an axle back system (since I only have CAI) and keep the stock pipes... Where are the bottle necks in the stock b pipe? Can I get rid of these without changing out the whole thing?

right after the cat

what header do you have ?

2.5" collector and hi-flow cat would be a better mod than exhaust IMO

Damn you Jamie. I'd go with 2.5" 4-1 and a Carsound 94006. Get rid of the bottleneck at each end of the b-pipe. Where the cat bolts up and where the axle back or c-pipe if you will does. Then work on other stuff. The ITR exaust is great. If you wanna get an axle back down the road cool. I like the ITR b-pipe so much i put it on my car. Hope this helps.
Later.

I agree...you are better off upgrading the header and cat. You should be able to get a JDM header relatively cheap.

That would leave you with a restriction in the stock muffler. I do remember a post from a long time ago where SMSP too the stock tip and attached it to the Magaflow muffler. The setup looked stock, but was louder and flowed better.

I'd have a shop make me a custom 2.5" catback with 2 resonators and a maganflow cannister.

Go to your nearest and most professional muffler shop and ask for a Magnaflow and custom pipeings w/ a resonator and your good to go. Just have one maid, dunno how the prices are were your at, but in Miami a setup like that will run est. $200 + not bad and you get to pick the sizes of the pipes.... good deal

Thanks for all the advice. I leaning towards removing the bottlenecks in the stock b-pipe and throwing on a magnaflow can (hopefully i'll be able to retain the stock tip as well). As far as smog goes, is the magnaflow smog legal? How about changes to the pipes?

a decent exhaust to outperform stock would be at least $450-500 - if my choice, custom 2.5. In my opinion, for stock motor, stock exhaust is the best. Extra 1-2whp won't do nothing if anything from cheap exhaust. Bottleneck cut of, axleback with stock pipe, - will more likely affect the sound but won't make much difference. Get Jdm4-1 header or jdm dc sports - less noise and more power than any exhaust for stock car.

if it flows better does that really mean its going to be better? i know mugen/comptech etc. R&D all thier exhaust to make sure it going to gain hp and torq. is it possible to lose hp by getting a 2.5inch exhaust made by a muffler shop??
