Default Trunk Shocks

I figured after about 3 years of holding open my trunk I start to think about different options. I took out the torsion bars because the speakers I got were too deep.

I've been thinking about doing some trunk shocks and couldn't really find anything on here that have been done with our cars. Anyone ever done this or have a different alternative to the torsion bars? Thanks

i have them installed but i didn't use the parts from mcmaster carr. their parts are very generic. you can specify the spring force but not the amount of damping. this usually resulted in trunks the flew open too fast, causing the trunk lid to bounce off of the stops.

i got them from a local guy who specializes in gas springs. the guy even has a shock dyno. he said for an addition $20 per shock, he could rebuild them with waay more damping. that way, one could have a shock that has lots of force but also moves very slowly.
