Default a6/y8 mini me ignition timing w/ adj cam gear need help!

Hi!

TL;DR : I have a problem where my ignition timing will not get anywhere near the ignition timing marks on the crank.

The setup is a D16a6 with a d16y8 head/ dizzy. I am using an adjustable cam gear.

The cam to crank timing is set correctly. I set the cam lined up with the timing marks on the cover and the crank at TDC then loosened the ring on the cam gear and let the belt set the position of the ring. Then I set the tensioner to full tight by hand and tightened the cam gear ring. The ring ended up showing the the belt was about half a tooth off.

When trying to adjust the ignition timing I jumper the connector, wait for the car to warm up, check for idle at about 700 rpm, and then adjust the ignition timing with a timing light.

My ignition timing with not go past about half way between the TDC mark and the ignition timing marks. the range that moving the dizzy fill advance doesn't move it that far and still no where near where I need to be (15 deg btdc i think).

Do I need to advance my cam timing to get the ignition timing closer to the marks or do I need to edit my ROM with different timing values? Or what can I do?

My car is running but VERY poorly with lots of hesitation, and its really loud for some reason. Any help is appreciated.

Bump? Maybe this should be moved to the EG/EK section?

Let it warm up before putting in the jumper, and make sure the jumper is in right and connected. If that doesnt work, then the belt is off one tooth.
