obvious signs of scoring and heat marks then you need to mic it. verify its within spec in multiple locations and theres no variation in your measurements from one place to another. usually if you spin a bearing the crank needs to be machined or replaced though.

^yup, measure it out. if you don't have the tools or know-how, take it to a machine shop and they can do it.

i think typically, you don't want to have gouged out more than 30thou, correct me if i'm wrong

junkyard is gonna charge you the same to buy a motor as a machine shop to fix urs if needed. just take it to a machine shop.

a 30 thousansd gouge is gigantic. maybe you ment 3 thousands? lol

Of topic but I thought the Ls block was cast differently to where their crank was not interchangable with the other B series, same with the B16a's.

its a pretty safe bet that the journal needs to be polished at a minimum. its very possible that it will need to be ground down and polished. this is fine for a relatively low performance(street) vehicle. but if you intend hard use, id suggest finding another crank. if it is gouged too bad then the crank is scrap because they dont make oversize bearings beyond a certain point.
