GR-2 shocks are pretty much OEM replacement. Probably the only lowering spring it could handle would be something like the H&R OE Sport springs, and even that would be questionable.

The new Koni STR.T shocks are an entry-level shock, and I would not expect them to hold up to any sort of "race" spring. However I have no experience with them.
I had H&R Sports when I first got my Koni Sport shocks, and I thought it was total crap. The H&R Sport springs were way too soft for the amount they dropped, and as a result the car bottomed out all the time.

what about the Eibach ProKit springs or H&R OE Sport springs paird with the KYB GR-2 struts "questionable"?
what he's saying is since the eibach pro kit doesnt slam the car why wouldnt the gr2's work? i can see hr race springs or something that lowers your car 2.0 inches nnot working but the pro kit and hr oe sport dont really drop the car that much... but anyways im stuck between getting tokico illumina shocks or koni sport shocks... can the illuminas handle hr race springs or jus go with the sports?

For how long? I bet you'd be amazed at the difference in ride quality if you switched to some new high quality dampers like Koni Sport or Tokica Illumina's right now.

thanks man... any clue how the ride will be with the illuminas vs koni sports or yellows im tryin to learn more about suspenions and this is obviously somethin to pay attention to and not cut corners.. the kid i bought my da had ebay springs on stock struts looked good height wise but the car rode like poo
For the love of god, they are struts, not shocks. my '02 oddysey has shocks in the rear. ridgelines n mdx's have shocks in the rear.
but we sell Kyb Gr2's as a replacement strut and shock for many makes n models of import and domestic vehicles. They will work with mild drops. I've installed them on 1.5" drops and have had 0 issues with it and 0 warrantee comebacks with lowered vehicles.
The problem is when people try to mate them up with real aggressive drops or slamming there coilovers. The GR2's just aren't valved for that kind of drop n abuse.
But yes, they will work fine with your prokit.

Really? All integras and any civic older than 01 have shocks. A strut is defined as a structural suspension component. Just because they do not look like the shocks on your odyssey does not make them struts
The reason why we dont recommend using OE replacement shocks on any drop is because they are designed to be used with oem springs and spring rates. Most if not all lowering springs use higher than stock spring rates thus drastically reducing the shocks ability to handle the spring rate and drastically reducing the lifespan of the shock.

The 2001 Civic and 2002 RS-X were the first Honda models to incorporate McPherson struts at the front end of the vehicle.
At least they still have coilover-type shocks in the rear, and some of the Acura and Honda Accord models are still using double-wishbone up front with shocks all around. Most Toyotas, Nissans, Mitsubishis, and other foreign and domestic family cars use Mac struts at all 4 corners of the car *barf*
just installed this week. oh i know, better shocks will make a big difference, but i got the coilovers, shocks, and lcas for $110 shipped. high school students cant afford baller parts, once i get a real job ill have money for better stuff
How do the GR2s compare to the AGX? I have KYB AGXs w/Eibach prokit springs, but now that I've moved, the city streets I drive on are a bit too harsh for this set-up. I plan on installing OEM Showa shocks or possibly GR2s - but I'm not sure which springs would work best if I went w/GR2s - my OEMs, or Eibachs.
also someyone just offered to sell me some used Tanabe coilovers for 250 never heard of them as far as being good or not heres a link he gave me good deal or no? http://www.ohiohondas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47024

The pro-kit will settle over time. At some point the Eibachs will wear out the GR2s. After 4 years they started to wear out the AGXs.
