does anyone know what kinda extra power i can get wit a performance cam and cam gear???? or wat type of upgrades i can do to my engine with out changing the head to vtec

 

bisimoto makes a stage 1 cam gives a 10% power gain i think the stage 2 is 15%

 

ok cool thats wat i wanted to know so ill gain about 10 hp??? and is it a direct bolt on??

 

stage 2 recomends srings and retainers but the stage one is..

i want to run a stage 2 or 3

ok cool thanks. if i put the vtec head on. will it give me more power if i dont have the vtec connected??? wat i mean is if i dont have the vtec controllor and the obd1 wireharness and dizy. will my car still run if i keep all my d16a6 parts but just change the head??

 

i had an a6 with the z6 head and only problem is you have to run a y7 cam gear and only one bolt will be holding your dizzy

 

ok so u didnt have ur vtec active than right? did it have more power wit the vtec head even though you werent running vtec

Why would you use a z6 head and not hook up vtec? You don't need a vtec controller, just an ecu that supports it. Just stick with the a6, get a bisi or exospeed cam and a tune.

Yes you do need a z6 dizzy, obd1 conversion harness, 4 wire o2, and ecu. Thats all mandatory when switching to obd1. You do not need a vtec controller though like you mentioned.

 

ok ok. IF i just swap the head to a vtec head but nothing else. will the car still run like normal just with out vtec???? and will it give my car more HP even though the Vtec isnt kicking in?

 

No man you wont make the same power.. Vtec head needs vtec to perform. Stick with what you have. Most Level2 / Stage 2 or whatever the company calls them advise that you replace the springs. You DONT have to replace the retainers...

with the cams and tune.. thats all you can do with that. if you go to obd1 and vtec thats something you can build off later on down the road if you so desire. it really up to you and your plans.

 

hmm ok i see if i thirst more and more power best way to go is Vtec if i dont mind so so power forever cam is the way to go right lol

 

sorry for stealing your thread but if i put bisi camshaft and upgrade my valves and springs is this going to be a problem when going to get a smog?
