Default Oil cooler

i have a semi built ITR block. the usual forged H beams, forged pistons on stock sleeves. when i bought the motor it had a spun rod bearing and there was some definate shavings. can i or sould i reuse the stock oil cooler attached to the filter? or is there a way i can delete it? is it necesary or beneficial to the motor now that it has forged internals? im kinda weary putting something that possibly has shavings onto my motor thats fully rebuilt.

You can delete it by not running the coolant hoses to it and just loop them around

im scared there might be shrapnel/shavings inside the cooler itself which might contaminate my oil. any way of just not running the cooler on the block?

Keep in mind there are two parts to the cooler. The part for the coolant and for the oil. They're both very simple and easy to clean if you're worried

To delete it is simple. Remove the unit and buy the male threaded fitting for the block (its the part that the oil filter will screw onto). For example, the 99SI did not come with a cooler so you can source the part using that car as a reference when you go to Honda. Also, you need to cap, re-route, or plug the coolant hoses that are no longer used.
