Default Question about break-in process on new rings and transmission.

Hello HT, I have a problem that I need help figuring out. I have just recently got my LS/VTEC motor rebuilt with new piston rings, belts, etc. I have only started it twice, the first time for 20 minutes and the second for about 7 minutes. I did not drive it anywhere because for some reason it cannot go into gear. Well my first question is, will it be bad for the break-in process of the rings if I start it again without driving it?? I've read that its better to put load on the rings in order for them to break in properly. But since I cannot put it in gear, I'll have to figure out that problem first before I start it up.

When I was mounting the transmission on the block, I forgot to check for the throwout bearing... =( I am not sure if I left it on there or not, but I searched in my garage and did not find it. After bleeding the clutch, there is a small amount of pressure, but the pressure starts when I am about halfway on the clutch pedal. The pedal also has a small vibration from the transmission. I just replaced the slave cylinder..is there a way that I can check to see if theres a throwout bearing in there, without removing my transmission?? What do you guys think?? I hope I don't have to pull the motor out again, its a lot tougher with a freshly painted engine bay!! ='(

Yup...kinda.
Every few hundred miles increase revs 1000rpms but what you're really looking to do is high load pulls and decels.

And if you missed the bearing, then you shouldn't be doing this sort of thing. It will also most likely make a horrible noise and you probably wont build any sort of pedal feel.
