Default Full body coilover questions

Last year I had a Koni/GC setup with extended top hats. Being as low as I was, I had to cut the bump stops in half, and I was still always bottoming out, it was ridiculous. I was all the way down front and rear and it wasn't comfy at all. So I'm looking into a fully body setup right now. Now most are all set spring rates and valving. From what I've heard, if you adjust the spring perch you'll blow your shocks super quick, so the only adjustment is on the lower shock mount which basically shrinks the whole system. Now with most full bodies, how low can you go with just adjusting the lower shock mount? Any recommendations on some setups or any advice regarding my concerns would be greatly appreciated.

Adjusting the spring perch does not blow a shock. Shocks fail for a variety of reasons - some just due to regular use, heck some will spill their guts if you sit them on their sides too long.

I have some advice regarding your concerns - do not slam your car and expect ride comfort, increased performance or longevity out of your suspension bits.

Don't worry man, I'm fully aware of ruining suspension as well as many other things being slammed. It won't be comfy I know that, but what I experienced with the Koni/GC setup was dumb, I bottomed out waaay too much, and that was because of not being able to adjust the lower shock mount to make the whole system smaller. Instead I could only adjust the spring perch which lost all of my shock travel.

I'm thinking about D2, Blox, or F&F Type l. D2's have adjustable dampening though where as the Blox and Type l's don't.

Not exactly. The top hats helped gain back some of the lost travel. The reason you were bottoming so much was because your springs were simply too soft for the ride height you want. The lower you go, the stiffer your springs MUST be to keep from bottoming. And even then, your still gonna scrape on bumps & dips. But there's no way around that...

Yeah, I was running 400F, 350R. Pretty soft. I'm thinking about the D2's because of their adjustability. Does anyone know the rates on the D2's? The Blox seem to have the stiffest rates, 10k/8k, but I was thinking I almost need 12k/10k.

I can't believe you would switch Koni's out for crap. Even with those full threaded bodies you can't go that low with the shock mount and in the end you will have to lower the spring mount. Why don't you save some $$ and just order stiffer GC springs from them and you will be using eibach springs. If you still need full bodies then go with better brands then the ones already mentioned. IMHO I would take a close look @ the PIC Selects and those AMR look good especially that lifetime warranty and hyperco springs.
