i have a 96 ex that i just recently changed the headgasket. now it only rev up to 4000rpm. did i forgot to plug up something? or is the timing off?

 

vtec connected? also check idle adjustment. i used to have a b16a and when i had tightened the idle screw too much, not letting enough air in, vtec did not engage and redlined/lagged at 5k

 

check your distributor. my friends coil broke in there and it wouldn't go pass 3k.

 

thanks for the reply. the other day i drove to work i started to smell gas really bad, so i check the engine and it was two of the fuel injector o-ring. do you guys think thats the problem that is making my car lag? plus my check engine light came on too.
