Default B16B pistons in JDM B16 tuning?

I am going to tear down a jdm b16 that came in a rolled civic I bought. I dont know how many miles it has or anything. So i figured when I am pulling the motor out, might as well check the bearings, and throw in some new pistons. I would like to bump up the compression a little bit with the civic type-r pistons and add a .051" headgasket which would put me at around 11.1 compression according to the zealautowerks calculator. Now could i get by tuning with a shitty VAFC and running 91 oct? Or is the 6/10 compression bump really even going to make that big of a difference? Not rich, so thats the reason why I not running a type of EMS. I plan to do a ls/vtec nitrous setup later, so just trying to make this motor reliable till then and getting the most out of it. I will add be adding a set of cams and I already have I/H/E, thats another reason i would like to have the compression bump. thanks.
