got a problem, looking for some answers

got a 00 civic dx, kept up with maintenance since it was new, now its at 210k and every time i do an oil change (every 3k miles) there is hardly any to change. whats wrong and how expensive is it to fix?

 

ummm u should check the oil periodically throughout the 3k miles and add as nessesary and its loosing oil cause its old and its a honda lol. and pretty sure i wouldnt try to fix a motor that has that many miles on it. id sooner just but a B16 for it or something whatever is in ur price range.

 

First of all, you should be monitoring your oil regularly. Given your situation, you should monitor EVERY TIME you take you're going to drive your car. We need to ask you a few questions before being able to answer yours.
1. Is your car blowing smoke from the tailpipe?
2. Is there any oil on the floor where you park your car?
3. Monitor your oil, fill it up, and then pay attention to how much the oil level goes down, to see how bad your situation is.

There should NEVER BE " hardly any to change " You should never let your oil level go low. It could cause serious engine damage, and VERY advanced engine wear.

i just noticed it recently, so ill be checking up on it
- its not blowing smoke
- nor is it leaking any
just curious why this is happening, and what the solution for it is, i'm sure its not worth to fix it, but like i said... i'm just curious

 

i wouldnt worry bout it cause we can NOT help u if u dont know where its going. if its not on the floor when u park its blowing out the tailpipe....no question. where else would it go. and in that case id say valve seals. not a big issue if u keep up on the oil level. i woulnt worry bout it its so old.

 

Check your coolant, to see if there's any oil in it. Give it a good look, not a once over. Stick your finger in the coolant and feel it between thumb and index. Also, about the blowing smoke from your tailpipe, have someone rev your car real good into higher RPM's ( with the engine in operating temperature of course) and check yourself for smoking from the tailpipe. Also have someone drive it around, and give a little heavy acceleration, to see if the car smokes while under pressure.
