oil question
havent posted on honda-tech in a while and of course forgot my password
so had to creat a new account
just recently bought a 99 civic with an ls/vtec swap i was told that it was being run with royal purple synthetic 10w30
ive always ran mobil 1 5w30 in all my past setups but this is my first ls/vtec
i have about 10 quarts of 5/20 still in my garage.
was wondering if it would matter to switch to the 5/20 or should i just go buy the 10/30 royal purple.
pros,cons if there are any
thanks ahead to the honda gods of honda-tech

your engine requires 5w30. i would stick to that grade. 10w30 is perfectly fine.
5w20 is a little on the thin side. it will probably be ok but you will have lower oil pressure all around which is not a good thing.

it has royal purple 10w30 synthetic right now but i want to change the oil and i have mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 in my garage and want to change but dont know if the 5w30 is to thin for the motor being my first ls/vtec
