Default New to EG's Ive got some questions...

I'm about to buy a 92 EG Dx hatch from a friend of mine for really cheap. The car has been sitting since '06. we drove it around the block a few times and no ticks or anything. It needs a few things and I'm new to EG's. I usually work with ef's. That being said ive got alot of ef parts. And the EG I'm buying has a d15b7 with a 5 speed tranny.

I.
The axels are going bad and I was curious if ef (either auto or manual) or eg automatic axels will work.

Next question.
The cars ignition was busted at the steering wheel lock but the tumbler is still in tact and the key still works. I was curious if I get a complete EG ignition if there was a way to swap the tumbler so that the key works on the new ignition.

Third question.
Will an ef speedo cable work on my EG?

4.
I know this is a pretty broad question but.
what is the recommended thing to do before driving this car daily? I checked the fluids and the oil looked and smelt fine and the level was good and same with the coolant. I was thinking just change out all the fluids after a day or two of driving it. Is this correct and is there any other recommended things to do??

IIRC Auto EG axles will work.

Yes the tumbler can be swapped.

No, the EF uses a cable speedo.

Change ALL the fluids. Inspect brakes, upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, suspension bushings and wheel bearings. Also consider doing a timing belt.

All I can think of right now, gotta go.

so ef and eg axels are not swapable? i know someone who just put an auto eg axel in a manual ef rex... he hasnt driving it yet and wont until race season (dirt track car) but i was curious if he will have problems...

Does the EG not use a speedo cable?? reason I ask is cause the speedo pin on the dash is spun around and stuck under the peg...

Remove these two.

CAREFULLY pop out the Hazard Light button.

Remove the screw behind it. Now CAREFULLY pull the bezel out (I don't know where that pic went).

Unplug the clock connector (if there is one)

Remove these screws...

...and the two on the other side. Pull out the gauge cluster.

Then simply unplug it's connectors.
