How do you change the alternator belt?

The best way is to read the instructions in a chiltons or haynes manual.
But basically you take your drivers side front tire off to access where the belt goes around the crank pully
loosen the alternator to relieve tension on the belt.
pull the old belt off
put the new one on
adjust to the proper tension which i believe is around 0.4" deflection
put tire back on.
done.

missed a step in there...
Remove left front tire
remove splash guard
remove power steering belt (loosen the pivot bolt and then remove the adjustment bolt so the PS pump swings enough to free the belt)
Then loosen the alternator/AC tensioner pivot bolt, loosen the top alternator bolt and loosen/remove the adjustment bolt.
Swap belts, reverse.
Remove left front tire
remove splash guard

Then loosen the alternator/AC tensioner pivot bolt, loosen the top alternator bolt and loosen/remove the adjustment bolt.
Swap belts, reverse.
