koni gc problem
i just installed konis and gc on my integra and i read the write up on how to install but for the life of me i couldnt get the sleeve of the gc to sit on the circlip of the koni. i bought the revalved konis the one with 5 perches. and the sleeve wount even make it passed the first one ? now i dont use any of the perches that koni gives me correct ? on the front or rear? when i put the front of the car down the driver side sitts and inch higher than passengers side. i can slam the driver side and put it in the lowest perch and its still sits higher what am i doing wrong?
1- So you have the Neuspeed Koni shocks? I believe those are the ones with a droop limiter and the 5 circlip grooves cut into the shock body...
2- Did you make sure the circlip is in the exact same groove on both left & right shocks? If it's in different grooves, the ride height will be screwed up.
3- Did you confirm you have the proper springs in front? Obviously if you have springs mixed up, you will get a funky ride height at each corner.
4- Did you make sure the cirlips are fully seated down into the groove in the shock body? Sometimes paint will keep them from sitting in all the way, and the GC sleeve won't seem to fit over it. It may be necessary to grind the paint out of the groove with a thin file.
5- If you couldn't get the GC sleeve over the circlip, why on earth did you put the car on the ground? The circlip must be captured inside the lip of the GC sleeve.
6- Did you instal both OEM brake line brackes on the two front shocks? If not, it's gonna be hard to set both front shocks at the same depth in the damper-forks. This will effect ride height.
7- Did you make sure all your springs are seated properly into their upper mounts when you put the car on the ground? If one spring gets hung up on the lip of the upper mount, you will have a slightly raised ride height at that corner...

this is the whole thing put togethe.i also looked today and both the front and rear on the passenger side are on the middle perch and sit nice like just the way i want the car. but the driver side is still all jacked up lol
you mentioned you read the write-up on how to install, did you put electrical tape on the strut?
when i did mine recently my sleeve wouldn't slid past the tape and so just i ditched the tape step.
or maybe something really just got stuck in there as 94eg mentioned.

Yeah he read my write-up. I put 1 layer of electrical tape on to keep the sleeve from spinning while turning the spring perches (made it easier to adjust after installed). But it was pretty hard to get the sleeve all the way seated with the electrical tape on there. That's how small the tolerance is between the sleeve ID and the shock body's OD. But I did finally get the sleeves all the way down after wrestling with it, and I made sure they were fully seated.
When I later removed the sleeves, it was even harder to get them back off. I had to use a strap wrench to turn the sleeves around and around to get it off of the electrical tape.

I didn't use the tape at all. I use my right hand to turn the perch while my left hand held the sleeve in place.
I know one of my sleeves was tight on the shock and had to move it down with a bit of finesse. The powdercoat paint is thicker in some areas sometimes and that causes the resistance.
Is it possible to show pictures of the sleeve and shock separated? Plus the top and bottom of the sleeve too.
