Old thread I know, but this is exactly what I'm looking for. I found the correct helms for my ED6 STD hatch and the "dash light brightness control" is not part of the thumb wheel in the dash. The thumb wheel has 3 wires that go to the control unit, and the control unit is what actually adjusts the voltage for the lights. Either I have a shorted or broken wire or the control unit is bad, but I have to find the darn thing first. Any idea where it's at? I have a decent amount of the dash pulled apart already but it eludes me yet.

I didn't notice until you said something. The control unit input tests passed but still no lights from the control unit. I'll try reflowing the solder joints and see if I can't coax some life out of it.
