Help!!! Timing issue!
I just replaced my head gasket and I got everything back together but I'am running into the timing problem. When I line up the cam gears on TDC the intake side will jump a tooth or two. How can I prevent the cam gear from jumping?
Have someone give you a hand by holding the cam gears in place with a wrench, or use a center punch to keep the cams from rotating.
Have someone help hold the two cams with wrenches, or use a drill bit / center punch to hold the cams. These are located in the cam caps (some B-series don't have them though). Yours should.
And remember. Run the belt in this order: Crankshaft, tensioner, waterpump, exhaust cam, intake cam. Makes it cake. Should be only a little slack between the crank and exhaust cam, and between the exhaust cam and the intake cam. Then tighten the tensioner pulley and it'll be perfect.
