91 Legend C32A V6 in CRX
Don't get too excited or start bashing me yet: I have scored a free 91 legend with a C32a V6 (200hp model). The engine, trans, ecu, harness, transmission are all in great shape with 100,000 miles. The rest of the car is trash, I plan to take the entire front clip and anything else I can. I have yet to get the project car but I am likely to get a 90 CRX with a great body. I'm also considering any 80's-90's civic/crx.
The motor is going to be mid mounted, will sit right in front of the rear wheels (much like the RWD H22 integra). I plan to keep as much of the legend mounts, front frame and supports as possible and cut, chop and weld it into a hole in the rear of the CRX.
I will have pictures of the legend, motor and other parts soon. Anyone with a >$1000 project car in the New England or PA area let me know.

I plan to make it reliable enough to be driven daily but I have an Accord sedan for that. It will just be a toy and an occasional strip car. I might auto-x or hill climb depending on the weight balance and handling I will get from it. It's the C32A1, 200hp and 210tq N/A in a CRX or similar sized body will be awesome and I think mid engine and RWD is ideal for a car like that. I want to use the front steering knuckles from the legend on the rear with some fixed but adjustable tie-rods. I will be able to use the control arms and suspension from the front. BTW the car is a 5spd.
I think the placement of the engine may be an issue. There is alot of transmission behind the engine, i don't know if there would be enough distance between the rear wheels of the CRX and the back of the cargo area to fit it.

i have done a lot of work on both the crx and the acura legend.
i think it would be way more trouble and money than its worth.
If your going to do it you should get the type two
but i understand you interest.
the 2 door type 2 was a mean car!
"got one for sale for 2800 by the way"
and ways,
it's a big motor too!! if you where to "try" and put a c32 in the cargo area of any crx-civic the flywheel would be sitting in the middle of the back seat/ storage compartment (crx)
rear of trans would be hitting your front seats
get under a legend and measure from crank pulley to the rear of trans.
by the hidden trans mount.
just my opinions on the matter

Yeah the easiest way, if there is one, is to mount it transversely just as it's mounted in the Legend, but where the back seats are.. A better fitment would to mount the engine in the front longitudinally but then comes finding a RWD tranny to use and then the weight distribution issue.
I really haven't seen the engine bay, engine or transmission of the Legend in person so I know I'm certainly getting ahead of myself. Where's there's a will there's a way. I hope to use a Honda or Acura project car around $700. The Legend is free. Not saying it won't cost alot and take forever. I will start to take some measurements and pictures. If the size becomes a major issue I might choose a larger chassis, A 3rd gen Accord or something. Or if the transmission is the most limitating thing, try to find a different transmission. I know the Legend has a pretty massive and strange transmission/transfer case.

WOW!, where did you find that, I have been looking all over. Very clean, factory finish, love the wide body look. I'm sure it was to increase the width and room for the engine/trans. The rear wheels look like they are very far apart too. That thing is amazing, I doubt I will have a finished project quite that nice due to money and time but hey, we'll see.
Most people don't realize this. If you want to do something bad enough, and you take your time doing it right, damn near anything is possible.
There has been more than a few Rear engined Honda's built. There's a local guy who is building a front + rear engined Del Sol.

i dont understand how the alternator is on the back of the engine
or is that the front, and the intake is turned around.
and who ever has to be using a normal fwd trans.
and if he did that, what did he do with the axle holes in the oil pan
i would love to see that up close.
looks more like the older legend setup, like 87 model

on this topic this engine is the motor of choice for one of my friends, hes had them in a 90 mid engine prelude with 200 shot, gettingthe front wheels like a foot off the ground on launches, hes had it in a 95 prelude with a t70 that could not get traction if his life depended on it, he even put it in a 92-95 civic coupe on spray, great motor, great results, put it in the rex and have fun with it, takes piks and ill be sure to subscribe
