Accords > Civics?
After looking for aftermarket parts iv noticed there seems to be a lot more stuff offered for civics.. pretty much every where and year. But why would that be so if accords are roomier... better riding.. and faster stock? Iv always liked accords more and saw them as the better car but why do people obsess over civics? Just my oponion, wondering if any1 else feels the same..
b/c they're cheap, simple, and light, and the people who buy them are probably more likely to modify them than the typical accord owner....so better aftermarket.
your talking about apples and oranges in the since that civics are what made hondas so famous. To go off of what texasnick said their light cars watch are key for racing, they have so many swaps that you can do for them, and their cheaper stock. Question how many accords are running 9s let alone 10s? Reason behind that question is thats what draws ppl to civics.
PS not trying to offend anyone.

Apparently Accord people have better grammar/spelling/punctuation.

And your comparisons are not exactly well grounded. The Civic is more popular because of those cheaper, more available parts. But if Accord interest grows, those cheap available parts shift to the Accord. It boils down to what the market wants. It's not that you can get more power out of a Civic than an Accord, you can get proportional power from each.
There's quite a few Accords that were circuit cars that did VERY well in Japan.

It's all about supply and demand. IIRC the Accord Euro is top of the heap over in the UK as far as circuit racing goes (not sure what class, whatever Jason Plato is in lol)
i guess its to each his own. As far as grammar and spelling im at work trying to type fast. Not trying to have bad vibes with anyone but in my opinion civics are just better drag cars. The power to weight ratio on a civic hatch is just nasty when doing a h or k series swap.

Civics are cheaper (both brand new and used), often appear sportier and are available in some body styles that are currently more popular with a younger crowd (three door hatch versus five door wagon, for example).
I personally own a Civic and an Accord and like them both. The Civic is a Milano Red '98 EX coupe and the Accord is a Rosewood Brown '93 EX sedan.
We're not all retarded though.

(I suppose I'm a "Civic person" since I started there and the Civic is the modified one in my collection. I'd just call myself a Honda person though.)
the main thing is most dont look at accords as performance cars. they look at civics and tegs because they're more popular. thats another reason i like my accord tho. not many people mod them compared to the civics and tegs. that and they'll always have matching if not more torque than horsepower.
take a look at a few accord sites around. depending on what year accord you have, they're bunches of them.
cb7tuner.com for those who have 90-93 accords
v6performance.com(or .net i think) for those with the '95-97 V6 accords
accordtuner.com and hondasociety.com for those with any accord(most of which '94-current accords)
all of these site have helpful information and tech articles that are VERY helpful. common problems with the accord and all.
but most other sites shun the accord. idk why tho. the 2 or 4dr model will out perform a civic stock and can beat a Type R integra in the quarter with just $500 in mods.
Bisimoto used an F22a out of the accord and is running 400+whp N/A and is running 10s or 11s in the 1/4mile with that motor in an Insight.

600 lbs difference for a 93 Civic CX to a 93 Accord DX
The Civic SI is 2326 vs the Accord 2738, so you're down to 400lbs.
Take into account the weight of the H22/K into the Civic that started with a lighter motor vs the F > H which is less of a difference and you're even closer in weight.
Of course a lighter car is going to be better for drag. But you're acting as if a civic is God's Chariot.
As mentioned above - Apples and Oranges. The Civic is a smaller chassis and will always be lighter than the larger Accord, but no one is saying you can't make an Accord lighter. Or just put a more powerful motor in the Accord to compensate for the weight.

thats basicly what it boils down to. they make civics more towards the younger crowd. the accords they make now are made more towards the older crowd. the newer accords arent much to look at IMO. too bulky.
correct me if im wrong but comparing my car which is a 99 dx hatch that weighs 2388 to a 99 accord that weighs 2990 is a 602 lb difference. As we all know weight plays a big part in drag.
Granted they'll still buy a car as long as they're told it's lighter and therefore faster or able to be faster.
yeah the newer civics seem a tad bit too big for what everyone is used to in my eyes.
lol. all the new accords are just starting to look like the rest of the cars that are out there. the taillights on the '07 model look like a freakin Ford.
not many people race 6th gen accords...lets get down to these 2 door 5th gen accords.
im a lover of accords mainly because every meet u go to u see civics and tegs...
i swear when i go to meet i can count the amount of accords on 1 hand....if there is more than 1. but i like it, when people see them done right u get ur props.
i think civics are nice...i had one for a little while but it just wasnt comfortable to me.

i wouldnt mind having a civic or a teg. but id just swap a B18 into either, slam it, and put some nice 16-17s on it with a good exhaust and be done. all that HP with no torque isnt fun. sure it may rev higher but its not fun getting left off the line and have to play catch up.
Toss a bigger/more powerful motor in the larger car and you've compensated your power/weight.
Done.
Civic - 400hp/2400lbs to an Accord 500hp/3000
They're equal.
i've never understood why people like to gossip. ... you can make ANY car fast period ... you see big heavy *** american muscle cars running 10's and below [which im not putting down i LOVE them] ... so weight only comes to play if your broke ... which the average ricer isn't rich or balling ... so what it comes down to is price affordability ... in short it takes less money to make a civic run 10's or whatever than an accord ... that is why civics/tegs attract the average car enthusiast over an accord ... a 6th gen stock accord will rock a 99-00 stock civic si which i never understood why honda would do that
I'll have to post up pics of my Accord and Civic together sometime. The Civic is about to go in for some paint touch up though and I'd like to get some foglights and possibly a stock half nose mask on the Accord.
My Civic is supposed to weigh 2460 pounds (127 hp / 107 lb-ft) and my Accord is supposed to weigh 2733 pounds (140 hp / 142 lb-ft). The lack of torque is definitely there on the Civic, but once I get some more storage space that will probably be remedied.

and it depends on who you know. with a DSM kit off of a 1st gen eclipse, talon, or laser, i can bolt up to my F22a, boost it to 8psi and run 13s. at 12-13psi be running 11s. all for under $700 and on a stock block and head.
