Bored, Honed, Posted, Line honed Z6 block, crank, bnib oem bearings, 1/2" ARP studs
D16Z6 block: Bored to 75.5mm, torque plate honed, Line honed mains (all machine work done by competition engineering, an extremely good machine shop with attention to detail)
The crank has been cleaned and inspected by Competition, didn't need any micropolishing (mint)
The block was CNC machined to accept custom 1/2" ARP head studs. Boosted D series Hondas have a problem with popping headgaskets and lifting heads when boosted a lot. By increasing the diameter of the studs this issue should be alleviated. Lots of the 800WHP+ B series blocks have had this machine work done, but this is the only D series I have ever heard of. The CNC machining alone cost over $300 due to set up charges, etc.
I also have a rare set of ARP main studs. These were never put in ARP's catalog but are a special order item.
I am also including all OEM Honda Main, rod and thrust bearings. All Bearing clearances were carefully set to 0.0015" When combined with aftermarket rods such as the Eagles that I sold earlier this year.
The Bearings alone cost almost $350 from Honda!
Instead of sleeving the block, I chose to post the cylinders using an Endyn posting kit. This kit has been used with great success in many of the super-high quality engines that Endyn builds.
My plan was to boost this block and hopefully attempt to set a new record for stock sleeve D16 horsepower (currently the record is around 500whp)
I have over $1200 into this bottom end already and I didn't cut any corners (aside from not sleeving) Even if you're going to sleeve a D16 in the future, you might as well start with this block and get some fun with the stock sleeves before you spend the money anyway! Who knows what the stock sleeves can handle? If B series can hold over 600whp, why not the D?
Sacrifice sale @ $800obo must sell. I will include a ton of other misc, D series bottom end parts if you want and a free Edelbrock Performer X intake manifold that needs a flange welded on. (pretty simple job for an aluminum welder)
also including a Cometic 75.5mm HP head gasket. these head gaskets were discontinued by Cometic for some dumb reason, they were the "turbo" head gaskets with thicker fire rings. thickness is 0.030
