ill start off by saying your in the wrong thread about this is for 91 and below civic you want the eg and ek forum or the chat forum so it doesnt get locked
well regardless of years a vehicle is a vehicle and here is my advise: if you want a GOOD first car then i'd suggest looking on craigslist or some other local ad forum and find your self a mechanic, and if you go look at either car take him with.
get both cars and test drive them cold and hot, to see if they idle normally and behave like they're supposed to.
one thing that you should be VERY weary of is rust. look good and hard for it. taking some one with experience on finding rust is always a good idea.
keep this in mind too, if it has a ton of mods, it's probably been driven hard. they tend to be more expensive, but adult owned, non modded cars are often in better shape mechanically and are less likely to give out or cause you problems.
one other thing to look for is a pile of receipts. the more they have the better off you are. you can tell alot about a car by how much maintenance has been done... (then again spend a grip of time at the j/y, you'll know what to look for after a while. ie, a car can LOOk clean, but once you pull the valve cover and see sludge... well you get the idea)
good luck on your find!
p.s. is your si coupe considered the ex coupe over here in the states?
