Default b18 & obd1 SWAP finished- Cost-and comments

just finished the b18a1 swap and obd1 conversion.

Cost:
Ls Engine w/obd1 inj,disty,02, harness- $300
Ls manuel Trans- 100
Clutch kit -140
Axles - 90
half shaft- 35
Engine rebuild kit w/gaskets -250
Chipped programed pr4 ecu- 200
Jumper Harness- 75
Ls shifter linkage- 30
Alternator- 30
starter- 25
mount kit- 175
All hoses- 50
map- 20
Paint and supplies, brake cleaner, tape ,wires, connecters -75
Fluids and filters- 100
turn flywheel - 35
Total Cost= $1730

i am sure, i might have forgotten something

I am mostly happy with the swap.
I should have spent more on some Good mounts.
The cheapos i got are way so stiff, alot of vibration
The mounts put the engine to far forward
Exhaust just clears.
Hood barley closes ,after sloting mounts as much as i can.

i think that would be my only complaint
I would like to have had a better write up on the ls/crx swap
Didnt know i needed the rear mount bracket, half shaft
or about the front mount ears, speedo sensor hoses

Other than that the swap was easy.

The wiring on the obd1 swap was a little concerning
I ended up with two connectors not used.
And although my engine was obd1,
it must have been originally an obd0 motor in a obd1 car.
had a coolant temp senor on the back of the block that threw me for a loop.
Wish i would have know before i extended the wires to the thermo housing coolant temp.
I also didnt know how to hook up the solenoid valves wiring
just left um undone and plugged all extra vaccum stuff
and put fpr on intake vaccum port

really the rest is just nuts and bolts
just thought some one might like to compare my cost
and opinion on the swap/build/convo

I think for all i did, the cost and time wasnt that bad
It still took me two ,three months of buying these parts before i even got to the work.
but all said and done.
the powers nice and i dont have to worry about anything engine related.

a swap really is a nice way to go as long as there are no engine problems... or wiring problems

Good job on the swap. I'm currently in the process of doing the same. Maybe you could give me some tips or what sites to go to get some things?

well if you need any advice, i would be glad to help any way i can.
i got a jumper harness, mount kit, engine kit, ecu, clutch from e-bay
the rest was used junk yard stuff
except, axles, fluids and filters

a tip would be spend the extra money on the mounts
mine are vibration crazy, feels like a solid mounts
and the fitment was bad

hey xaine,

just did the same swap in my 91 hf.
im having some initial torque steer problems, did you experience any of that. i havent gotten it professionally aligned yet so im hoping that is the problem, but as of now, it walks all over the road, very unpredictable and erratic.
i did all new integra spindles, hubs, axles, inner and outer tie rods, ball joints, and adjustable upper control arms.

other than that, im super happy with the swap, i used a short geared s1 and am pleased wit the gearing so far.

you said they were ebay brand mounts? any pics of them?

not bad on the swap. i guess i can write up a list of the cost of my "budget build" too.

just added my list up im at 1472 right now. shouldnt be much more to throw at it.
