b16 Flywheel Removal
I'm in the middle of doing internals, and I'm currently stuck at trying to get my flywheel off, i have a regular 12-pt socket, but i don't have one in an impact socket. How hard are they torqued on there from factory, and is it possible to crack them off with just a breaker bar? i was trying earlier, and had at least 100, maybe 150ftlbs on them, but they wouldn't crack.
Is it pretty much necessary to use an impact? or am I doing something wrong here...

It can be done with a breaker bar, I've done it before. Had a friend hold the crank pulley so the motor wouldn't budge. I wouldn't recommend it though. Since the flywheel bolts are so slim, they can get easily stripped, very fast when using a breaker bar. An impact gun does the trick easy as pie everytime without ****ing up anything. You should try and borrow/rent a battery powered impact so you don't have to dish out money for air tools. Good luck.
Thanks Mike! I have a really good electric impact gun, I guess tomorrow I'm off to find a 12pt impact socket
I really wasn't expecting an answer that concise that quickly, but hey! dreams come true
