Just put a new tank in, and I'm trying to cycle the fuel pump so I can clean out the lines of all the rust and old gas. The fuel filter is taken off. Also, when I turn the key to the starting position, the engine just ticks a bunch (sounds like it's coming from the distributor), is this just because of a dead battery?

nevermind, I just put on a new filter and called it a day...

 

turning the key to the second position will turn on pump for initial fuel pressure. Cycle the key to this position several times.
