how can u tell if fuel pump is on?
Hi I have a 92 hatch /ls engine.
i just installed new spark plugs and new fuel filter. It ran great for 2 days. Today i was cruisin at 60 mph and all of a sudden i lost power...the rpms went slowly down to 0.
I tried to start it, but it won't turn over. Now I think it's the fuel filter or fuel pump, bcuz I try to start the car with the gas pedal down, and no luck. In addition, I don't smell any gas inside or outside the car.
The timing belt didn't break cuz i c the bottom crank spin. It sounds like it wants to turn over but doesn't.
I might just install the old fuel filter first, or maybe I should check to c if the fuel pump is on or not.
How do u check if fuel pump is on ? or maybe where the fuse is for it?

Can you hear it prime? If your fuel pump was dead, your motor would still crank(assuming that the battery is fully charged). If it doesn't crank at all check battery, grounds, fuses. Did you hit a bump or something when it went dead? Also check any wires that were spliced for the swap.

Crank will spin even without the timing belt, starter drives the crankshaft

In my 93 Coupe, when you remove the back seat you can hear the pump running. It makes a high pitched sound like when the burner on a gas stove is on.

yo, i have had the same damn problem in my civic. from what people have told me , its not u're fuel pump, but it could be your distributor, or chekc u're map sensor. mine was pulled out.

well turns out that fuel pump is good, distributor, fuel filter, spark plug and wires were good.
The problem was the ignition coil. I measured the voltage of each spark plug wire, and did not get any response. I checked the dis for volt. still none. Checked the rotor and still nothing. Check the ignition coil, no voltage. Took ign coil to autozone to get tested and found out it was bad. Replaced it and now car works.
