built itr, cant afford tune, best ecu??
ive got low compression b20vtec now with ctr cams and its running on a pr3 computer and it runs ehh, but im trading my buddy for his built ITR ctr pistons crower stage 3 cams acl bearings toda springs and retainers. now my question is whats the best ecu to use pre tune, because i cant afford the obd0 to obd1 harness and the hondata right yet. now i guess i can get the obd1 jumper if i need to to atleast run a gsr or itr computer but any opinions or what to go for?
i'd stick with the itr ecu for now....a gsr ecu wont do you any good...i doubt the itr will either...but simply since its an itr motor the itr ecu should get you by
the pr3 is an obd0 ecu not an obd2 itr ecu and he is not running an itr motor he is running a low comp b20/vtec...
read his post befor adding ay input...
i picked up the DA with this motor in it, its a built low comp. forged 8.5:1 and just has the CTRs for that extra umph vtec screams but it doesnt move lol. what is the itr computer code? (p??) and is it only an obd2 ecu?
also if anyone in the md/dc area can tune with hondata or can simply burn chips for this thing i would like to talk and figure out what i can do with it for the time being.
also does anyone recommend getting the golden eagle ls/vtec kit for the all motor itr just for the extra oil at 9grand lol ive got one on this motor but im trading the full swap

you dont need hondata.. just an obd1 p28 (like 100 bucks) and if you need someone to make you a base map let me know, and if your in the pa/nj area and need a tune let me know. will socket ecu and street tune for $175, socket ecu and base map $100..... YOU NEED A TUNE . you CANT run that high of compression with a stock gsr timing map. High comp + lots of timing = EXPLOSION

don't run the car without a tune. those cams and that compression are going to be way off on a stock ITR map. also, usdm ITR ecus cost at least $150 and the JDM ones are at least $100. save your money for a chipped ecu, crome or hondata. please don't do something dumb with a nice motor. also ITR ecus are obd2a, i have two of them sitting here. if you actually had a motor that would benefit from it i would sell you my spare.
i know thats what im afraid of i dont want to**** it up but im runnin this b20v on no tune and its runnin pretty choppy too but i just cant do much about it right now but i guess we'll see what happens ill talk to the guy see if hes gota tuned ecu for this motor or not i doubt it because its still sitting on the engine stand :/
you are losing power in the b20 cause of the low comp and those cams...
the higher lift longer duration cams are designed for high comp motors... if you keep the b20 and change your pistons to rs machine pistons and bring your comp up to at least 10.5 you won't feel that drag... plus you need a tune

im very well aware thats the problem with not having the turbo lol its ready for it, just doesnt have it, and i dont have the time or the money to spend rebuilding a block let alone tune it like i stated above, im just not sure what to do yet, might just put a ****in ls in it and let the ITR sit until i can afford to tune it.
