hey i just checked my oil and it freakin smells like gas what could that be and why, i just changed it last week? no cel or nothing just have the smell and it seems to run the same but does have a little bit of white exhaust smoke??? please help me this kind of scares me just noticed last night...

 

Could be head gasket. Does your car overheat? Its normal for oil to have a slight smell of gasoline. How much is a bit of white smoke? You can buy a head gasket tester. It sucks coolant from the radiator into a tube that has a blue fluid in it. If there is exhaust gas's in the coolant the fluid turns yellow. Or you can do a leakdown/compression test.

But there is a few other things it could be. A cracked head, hairline crack in the block. The only way to know is to test, test, and retest.

 

it is like a newly built motor just finished the build like 5000 miles ago, could it be the fuel pump or injectors?

 

no it never overheats and it is just a lil bit of white smoke at high rpms...

 

Is the CEL ON? Do you smell unburnt gas in the exhaust (=running rich)? Usually, this will cause black exhaust smoke. Check whether one of the injectors is stuck open. You also might want to check the fuel pressure.

 

no there is no cel and i just had it tuned because it was running rich, should i change my oil again because i run royal purple and that **** aint cheap and i just changed it like seriously last week on the 6th and how would i check to see if an injector is stuck open?

 

i mean it was tuned at a abel racing with an apexi neo so it isnt like a true tune that is done with the computer chip and stuff......yet

 

Pull the spark plugs out, turn the key to ON(II), and check whether gas is spraying into any of the cylinders.

What your gas mileage (city/hwy)?

 

i usually get like 32 or so alright cool and i will see like it actually spraying and do i pull all the plugs?

 

What year/engine do you have? Your gas mileage doesn't fit with running rich.

Discard the running rich idea for now. Did you recently have trouble starting the engine? This may have caused engine flooding and therefore the gas smell in the oil. The only remedy is to drain and refill if the odor is actually gasoline.

 

no i have not do you think i should just go on a long like 30 to 45 minute drive of just non stop driving to see if that works then come home and check my oil and stuff and see what happens or what? because i have heard of someone saying to try that before

 

It's worth a try. Watch for whether the smoking from the exhaust continues and whether the smoke is white, bluish, or black.

dude as i told you before the reason you see it like that is because whenever you dyno a car it tells what wheel horsepower is and not what it says stock to the flywheel? think about it....so yeah keep telling yourself that but whatever

 

alright so what happens if it does continue and another thing if it was my head gasket wouldnt it be smoking like all the time

 

Seriously, leave this thread. Better yet, don't post until doing your research. The dyno measured wheel hp, not engine hp. You clearly don't know the difference, so you should be spending your time reading and not posting.
