Default 92 civic questions

Hello HT, This is my first post and hopefully I can get some answers. I'm 18 years old and recently just bought a 1992 EG8 sedan. The car came with a 1999 D16Y8 and my first question is... should I be running a P28 or a P2P ECU? The car came with a P28 but is not chipped. My second question/problem is that when you start the car, the coolant gauge shoots straight up to hot on a cold start and i do not know what to do to fix this. Also when the brakes are applied there is a sudden surge in the idle. The idle fluctuates a lot between 1k-2k rpm. Any input would be appreciated, thanks

The coolant gauge problem could be caused by a damaged coolant gauge or by a damaged coolant temperature sensor.

As for the brake problem that is probably a leaking brake booster vacuum line (the one that's connected to the intake manifold) or the brake booster check valve which is in between the intake manifold and the brake booster.

Ok thank you. I'm going to go buy a new coolant temp sensor and see if that works.
