Default help 91 accord

ok so around 30to40 mph and 1500 to 2000 rpm the car will start to do little surges or chuggs, like when you up sift to soon(butt it is a automatic) it will stop a soon as i get it above 2000 rpms, give it a little gas, or shift it into D3, which make me think it is a engine problem, but it only does it at that speed range that I can notice, which make me think it is a tranny problem.
the tranny is old 260,000 miles new junk yard engine at 230,000. any ideas thanks dave

my advise would be to take it to a shop that works on imports and have them diagnose it for you . you will get a lot of feed back on here replace this and that and after you dumped a lot of money find out it worse. these types of problems are kind of hard to diag since this is all on line. and we can only suggest things to try .

Just a thought - I believe the EGR valve starts to open around 2500 RPMS, so if your valve was not closing completely below that threshold you could be experience some problems. However, once you got above the 2500 RPMS the problem would go away.

I had a similar problem in my 90 accord. It ended up being my fuel gauge and I was running low on gas. So maybe at least make sure when it happens you know it has gas and maybe check the fuel gauge.

I have a 91 Accord SE that the S (sport?) light stays on all the time. What may be the cause for this? Can you help with this problem?
