Well I was thinking about getting the same color redone on it but my buddy and I want to make it a bit different and flat black is way cheaper and easier upkeep then going with the stock paint again.

You should do it. Some cars look amazing in Matte Black.

As long as the paint job is good, I like flat black, however too many people try to do it themselves and really mess their car up.

I like matte colors myself. I am going with a matte green soon on my coupe. Take the time to do it right and you will be happy with it.

i have yet to see a flat black car done correctly, its always half assed and un finished. if you do it just make sure its clean and the car is done well. like that jdm front teg up above^^.

But personally... gloss colors> flat black

Flat can look good, if done right. Just dont expect it to stand up to wear like a gloss job.
Even if you throw down a base coat and flat clear, you can still scratch it with your finger nails.
My first flat job was Krylon black, bought in a quart, sprayed on with a gun:

Next was Satin Brown(rustoleum mix), sprayed on with a gun:

They Krylon flat tan, sprayed from a can:

And now, its been sprayed professionally using Hot Rod Flatz, like a year ago and I havent put it back together yet. haha:

^^excuse the dust and f*cking kitty prints!

Thanks for the pics and input guys. I like the flat black idea and it is different. I don't think I have ever seen one here in the STL. The only thing I need to now convince is my wife...lol. She likes the shiney black paint after it has been waxed...I'll work on that though.

If I do it I was goign to do the wheels too but I am tossing around the idea of a red ring on the edge of the rim with the rest flat black, thoughts?

The car as of current:

That is the good side of the car...the other side isnt so good. It was wrecked prior to me buying it and they did the whole bondo fill thing and it looks wavey. The rust is also starting over the rear wheels wells as all hondas do. So I ahve a drivers side door and want to get the rust fixed so flat black would be the next step.
