Time sert vs Heli Coil
are you sure it wasnt something like thread lock that were on the bolts? i get that all the time, but take a second look to see; its really thread lock instead of aluminum shavings .... but worse case, you might have to re-thread the block and get a diff. sized bolts to compensate. and i like to use heli coil.
heli-coils will work if properly installed. just be paintent when installing them and make sure the bolts thread in smoothly after the insert is installed.
Time-sert. Check out the pictures and videos on both sites, and it'll be obvious why. There's also a reason that Time-Sert is used for factory repairs. Spend the money, fix it right.
instead of trying to fix it, why not just get another a6 shortblock or any d-series shortblock. probably the same price if a little bit more then time-sert or helicoil.

If you know someone with a time sert kit, pay them to install the time serts.
if not, then just buy another block. it's the cheapest way out. DO NOT use helicoil to "fix" your problem.

I would but I jst got it machined + spent about $300 to assemble it, so I would rather not lol..so time sert it is..but is there a kit for an a6?
Having said that, I know a guy who repaired an B20 block using the $90 North Star Kit + $30 for the 30mm long head stud (Time-Serts).
Good Luck
many machine shops can do this for you so you don't have to buy the kit and risk messing up your block even more..
Time Sert that is.. the local shop near me charges $20 a hole or $25... havent taken one in a while..
