boost or NA
I just bought a 91 civic hatchback with a LS Swap and a B16A VTEC head...the car is a Restored salvage so i bought a rolling chassis of a 1990 civic with a clean title to merge the 2 cars together to make 1...the engine came fully built with short pistons for low compression so i take it the owner was building the car for a turbo setup "Havent opened the motor to see whats all done inside but it does lag a bit"...is a turbo setup on this engine/head combo the way to go or should i build it for NA "Been hearing too much people saying to not turbo it"!
And also is OBX Exhaust or the JDM RS-R Exhaust better "Performance and sound wise"
here is the mods that are already done to it:
Integra LS B18A Block - Aprox 6-8k miles
B16A head
Type-R Intake Manifold
70mm Throttle Body
Full K&N Intake System
OBX Exhaust W/Silencer
DC Headers
PR3 Chipped ECU
Stage 1 Clutch
Neuspeed Front Suspension
GSR Cams
The rolling chassis comes with a few mods as well:
megan racing coilovers
JDM RS-R exhaust
JDM detachable steering wheel w/hub

Since this is in the na tech forum, you can gather what peoples opinions will be.
Its really your personal opinion on what to do.
But since it has the "short pistons" in it your going to probably want to change
those out if choosing to have a strong na motor.

If you don't want to crack into the engine, boost it. Just do your homework so you can make it as reliable as possible. There are going to be quite a few things you're going to have to replace to go boost. If you don't boost it, the lower CR is going to contribute to the "lag."
Really, Man...I have a friend that built an engine (LS stroked, long rod 9:1 CR, ITR cams) and the CR didn't make as much of a difference as you'd have thought. That little bastard SCREAMED. He was driving it NA to break it in before he boosted it. It was surprising!
If that exhaust is the Oval muffler..
KEEP THAT RS*R EXHAUST! I SAY AGAIN....KEEP THAT EXHAUST!
It MAY not be optimal for an NA build, OR boost, but that is a NICE exhaust. I'd love to be able to keep mine on my car, but neither of my builds would like it (too small). They sound great and are getting harder to find.
