The truth is, all stock motors break, no matter how good the tune is. If you are going to spend money to turbo a car then don't cheap out on building a motor the right way, unless you don't care about blowing up your wah motor. If I was going to turbo a stock block then i would probably find a cheaper gsr motor to toast.
I've had ITR with NOS, RS Turbo 8psi, and a stock ITR. Don't boost on the ITR. Get an LS or RS for that and run 8psi on stock internals. You can pick up an RS or LS dirt cheap these days. Why molest an R?
A turbo conversion on an R is not molesting it IF done right. Using stock internals in NOT doing it right. One boost spike or bad fuel will end it all (I know this by experience). A turbo conversion should never be taken lightly or done on a "budget". If you are going to do it, pay the price now or pay a lot more later, and expect to keep paying for maintenance and up keep because turbo R's are a lot more fragile that stock R's.
Being an FI turbo ITR guy, I agree. If you can't deal with the headaches or don't have the cash to have someone else deal with it for you, then stay NA, or get another car that is easier to play with.
MiraiZ, I checked out your Turbo R on CarDomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/400923/8 Very nice work man! I went the other direction... Grabbed a car from the junkyard then restored it and turbocharged. The idea was that if I blow an engine I can replace it for under $400 CDN. Never had to experience that though. Turbo on non vtec LS motor hammered daily for a couple years before I sold the car.

310's are way too small. go with 1000's and be done. the S300 can tune them. I ran an inline pro headgasket on my stock R motor and ran 17psi on a mish mash fuel system(450cc injectors, AFC, 12:1 FMU, missing link) and it never blew up. I tuned it on a wideband and kept it conservative. went low 12's like that on a little greddy 18g back in the day on 205/50/15 BFG's.
dont think it is a headache. I never had one issue with my stock motor and ran it for years. it had almost 90k on it when I decided to go sleeved and built. take care if it and get it tuned. keep it to 300whp or so and you will be fine as long as the motor is in good shape before you start.
this is a graph on a mobile dyno when I first turboed it at 7psi not even tuned on a wideband:

this one is when I finally got hondata and that is 17psi on pumpgas:

I've run 10-12psi on my stock itr motor for years now with a greddy 18g. I do have 780cc injectors and toda spec A cams though, but that's it for fuel system.
I'd say 8psi is very conservative, but that depends on the turbo and tuning of course...

well, its been done.
i bought 650cc injectors
got 269hp / 192tq on a coservative tune at Church

thanks for all that info people.

Until you crack 300whp I would keep comments like that to yourself. Just my .02 cents
im speakin about my ride, i know how my car Ran all motor, now that im boosted its a lot faster.
its a fact, how can I not make that statement. i know my ride is stronger.
yeah, i might loose to a built k20 or b series at 230whp. but hey would have to be really striped/light.

haha youre so wrong. you have a lot to learn. all motor cars always 60ft and 330 better in a lighter stage of tune and most all motor cars are light.
