car hesitates bad in 2nd anf 3rd gear help...
so i changed my timing belt last night cause the last one was getting a hole in it... but the thing is when i took everything off to change the timeing belt, nothing moved. so i figured that i could just slap the new one on... the car runs fine, doesnt seem to be a timing issue but after a while of driving it. it has a reeeaaally hard time acceleratind in 2nd and 3rd... any ideas?
and i already searched, the search engine kinda blows now

bump... help needed.. i also just put a new set of spark plug wires in to see if it would hepl cuz my old ones sucked... ideas?
i have never heard of a car hesitating in just two gears but sounds like your timing belt jumped and it is important that you line everything up when you put the belt back because your old belt was worn which means it had slack in it. when you put the new one on you probably put it on a couple of degrees off
sounds like you are off a tooth, take the belt off and re align all the marks, then reinstall the belt, you may want to check the timing with a timing light b4 u pull it apart

not if it didn't jump until later on. If you put a timing belt on and there isn't tension everywhere by the time it got tension in between all the pulley's one of the the marks will be off in your case maybe you got on it harder than you had before and it jumped.
ya im guessing that too... taking it apart again today... but what happens if it jumps a tooth or two? im curious...i have to re tighten it and realign it to tdc today and its cold outside... laaaame

If it jumps a tooth you will have low compression in all cylinders and they should all be just about the same readings. This is because all cylinders have the same leak. The leak is coming from a valve being open at the wrong time. For example on the compression stroke the intake valve might still be open for a split second or the intake valve might close to soon not allowing the engine to get the amount of air and gas it needs to accelerate.
oh ok... well that makes sense... well i got it fixed, i guess i was in too big of a hurry but i just redid the timing and shes back on the road... thanks for the info guys
