Tubing bender (Harbor Frieght)??
Has anyone ever used this bender before? Is it just a waste of money or good deal for making roll cages??

LAMOROFLhahaha...roll cages?????are you kidding me???? youll be lucky if you can bend a piece of electrical conduit with that......and no you cant use it for exhaust work either. they have a hydro one that does up to 2in. My buddy bought one used for minor exhaust work and crushes/folds just about everything you put in it.

JD2 came out with a new version of their model 3 bender recently. I would keep an eye out on 4x4 fab forums and try to catch someone unloading their old bender so they can pick up the new one.
the harbor freight stuff is made for rods or pipes ,which are measured different then tube. save up and get a JD squared, i paid 550 shipped from them directly with a set of dies had it in a week even thought they told me they had a 2week back order on them.
the trolling 4x4 forums is a good idea, i did that right after i ordered mine, most were going only a little cheaper then new so i opted to keep my order with JD3. its a good investment if you plan on building cages or roll bars. just make sure you study up on design theory and practice building them, its not something you want to screw up on.

i have one of those hf benders too.i use it for all sorts of bending.flat bar, round bar square bar.anything solid.i have also bent 1/2 square tubing with it.it will wrinkle the inside.but for hooks and stuff it works.will not work for any round tubing.for that i use my pro tools 105hd.
