For the oil to foul out off the plugs, the rings must be really broken. How many plugs doing this? Also, your valve seals must have been shot to hell. If it's me, I'll swap in another engine to save time and money. Nowaday, a stock EF engine can be have for $150. Swap it in is just a breeze.

I was just wondering what the alternative to taking apart your engine was.

That is one of the signs of valve seals. I agree with the rings. you have compression actually leaking out and making pressure build up and blowout out through the valve cover. Just go to the junkyard, you can find a whole 1.6 motor for cheap. replace the valve seals and throw that back onto a new block

The problem with engine from junkyard is that you might not get lucky and there might be a lot more wrong with it than anticipated and cost you even more. I just changed my piston rings couple weeks ago on my D15B2 with MPFI swap and i it costed me $170CDN in total (not including my labour). I love it now, it doesn't take any oil anymore.

There always someone swapping out his engine for bigger, better ones. Those are the ones you need to get a hold of.

You could do a budget rebuild. If you have some mechanical skill and the helm manual, it really is easy.

From everything youve described I would say no, its not just the head gasket by itself.

Oil should not be getting into the combustion chamber.
