turbine housings; cast steel or iron?

I'm getting mixed results reading posts. I'm going to be welding a mild steel vband flange onto my housing and wanted to see what filler rod to use.

ifs its cast steel a 309 rod will work fine if its cast iron you have to se a nickel based rod like 55ni

yea, i just called atp and they use cast iron. and Ni is wayyyy expensive

I might just weld my v-band onto another 4 bolt flange instead of directly onto the housing.
