Default Victor X, When do you need it?

Hello,

Im currently building/putting together my race motor for the road course. I have a turbo car that has the victor X. I am parting it out and i have been looking for good information on when to use the bigger, victor x over the performer x.

I know the victor x makes power WAY up top, but does anyone have any dyno graphs for all motor cars? The thread with the write up has all the graphs taken down.

What im wondering is how useful can it be with-

13.0 compression
vtec killers
ported Type R head
Toda header
gsr crank/81.5 mm bore.

Or do you think the performer would serve me better?

Thanks.

I have noticed on 2 diffrent builds i did one was a 81MM 11.1 with itr cams stock head I lost power with the victor x compared to the skunk2 manifold, second build was a 84MM kinda same setup made alot more power with the victor x,displacement helped out alot.this might not help but it's food for thought.

you're probably better off with a ported ITR intake manifold on your setup.

The performer X is better than the victor x, i looked at something where they tried like 6 intake manifolds and dynoed and the performer x gave the best performance.

That's a misleading statement...you should know better than to say one part is "better" than another. Maybe a better fit for the package

Makes perfect sense....that build is too small for the VictorX.

All depends on where those cams want to run.

PerformerX is a great STREET manifold, from the impressions I've heard from some VERY knowledgeable people on this board.

CombustionContraption used a VictorX on his 85X89 all motor beast. It made really good power.

One of DonF's customers made good power on the PerformerX with Pro2s on a 84X95 stroker beast (albeit, that manifold was well suited to that package)

If you are looking for more 'cam' meaning wanting more rpm then go with the Victor X.

If you are looking for less cam then stick with a manifold with longer runners.

Yeah Rob...but you know as well as I do that hardly ANY 1.8L is going to run worth a damn w/ a VictorX.

Bigger displacement w/ bigger duration cam = VictorX
not big duration = PerformerX

I mean....Sean's engine did well with the PerformerX...and Pro2s have quite a bit of duration

I don't know where those Toda VTEC Killers want to live....I'm clueless as to where the powerband will fall. I'm just assuming it'll fall in the upper regions of the RPM range.

I've never seen a direct comparison between victorX and performerX with high whp motors but I've seen 1.8L and 2.0L make 225+ whp and they had the victorX, big cams (12.7 mm of lift) and real headers.

Here are some of the motors from members on here.
Erin's motor made 225 whp 1.8L
Bill's motor made 240 whp 2.0L
one of Humble motors race car make 250 whp 1.8L

I think the cut-off line is right at 225 based on b19s build and posts.

Also, the predominate factor seems to be flow. When motors can use a lot of port loading, the victorx seems to better suited.

Wow lots of good information here!

I have thought about ITBs, I am currently in contact with Scott at Kinsler for a b series set, but i do not know when they will be available to the public.

The toda cams will make good mid range power, i feel like i should go with the performer due to its better behavior to lower RPM power
