Default Most beneficial upgrade for JDM B18C

I tried to do a little research on what the most benficial upgrades would be for the JDM B18C and couldnt come up with much. What i did find were a couple of mixed ideas so i wanted to pose the question to you guys...

I am going to be swapping it into my EJ6 and will already have fuel rail, 310cc injectors, intake, exhaust, vafc, and chipped p28... However ive got around $700-$1000 for some more goodies. I know some of the parts are better than aftermarket and dont need to be upgraded...

You guys will prolly be seein me around here alot more since ill be gettin the R motor...WOOT!!

any advice you guys have is greatly appreciated....thanks alot

sell the VAFC and the fuel rail.

get the car tuned by a professional.

buy some nitrous. best bang for the buck for hp.

lol no but really, i would go with the 4.9 gears. i had them in my turbo LS dc2 last year... loved it. not much top speed...but 0-100 pretty quickly. one of the best upgrades.

also a good tune with a prove dyno tuner..but i prefer street tunes the best...for your personal driving style.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. What is benificial to your build and to another can be completely different. You need to be more specific.

ive done a little reasearch on the ATS 4.9 gears, some people have mixed options. People say it has high revs if on the highway around 75-80 mph even in 5th....i had a GSR tranny on my B16 and on the highway i was sittin at 4200rpm at 75mph...not too bad i didnt think.

Also, some say to use the stock 2nd gear? possibly even a LS 5th gear? I know the LS 5th is for longer gear and more top end, but im not going to be doing over 120 too often so idk how beneficial that would be for me. What is the benefit of using the stock 2nd gear though?

Also, where would be a reputable place to buy one of these beasts? any other recommendations other than the ATS??

Thanks guys,

Dc2

if you drive the highway any at all, i would do at the least a gsr 5th gear if you want the 4.9fd, im personally going with an ls 5th gear because i drive the highway alot, and i have never/will never max out 5th gear

you could probably do the 4.9fd, a nice replica header and a tune for under 1,000
