Default oil pressure sending unit

hello,
i have a 2000 usdm b18c5 block on my hands. i recently bought a autometer oil pressure gauge which came with its own oil pressure sensor. i did not put the sensor right into the block because it is much larger than the stock one. i have heard since it is bigger, if you just screw it into the back of the block, the brass fitting over time will break and cause some major problems. so i figured that i would get an aluminum 1/8npt to -4 an fitting and run a stainless steel line to the oil pressure sensor that i will secure to the fire wall. this would eliminate most of the vibration from the block ensuring that my senor will not get destroyed.

now since my engine has VTEC, it has to have a good oil pressure reading. so now i cant just take off the stock one and put in the new autometer one. so what can i do?

do i need to get a T fitting and run it to the SS line? or how do i go about doing this?

im sorry im posting in the all motor forum but i dont know where else this applies. also i figured since a lot of you are very experienced in motor building you would know the answer. i remember reading an article about T fittings and oil pressure sensors on endyn website so i looked there again and i couldn't find it. when i get all this figured out ill write up a how-to, just so its easier for ppl to find out how. thanks

i have a T that i ran the inlet for the oil pressure from a 1/8" BSPT to -3 or -4AN fitting on the block, with an AN fitting and a 1/8" fitting on either end of the line. the OEM oil pressure sending unit threads directly into the T, and then sine i have a mechanical gauge i'm running another line to the gauge. but you could probably run a tap into the T and run a 1/8"NPT mechanical gauge, or just cram it in like i hear alot of people do.

i can put pictures up tomorrow if you need them, for an easy visual

heres pictures if they'll aid you any, but that 42DD kit would suit you better, since thats the only line you'd need, just remember to give yourself some strain relief

adaptor, to line, to T, OEM sensor on T, line to gauge, adaptor to gauge

1/8BSPT to -4AN adaptor on the block, with the SS line coming out

line coming from the block to the T, 1/8 in and out, with the OEM sensor in the middle

better shot of my location of it, its on the rear crossmember, drivers side, with the line going in down and right of the brake booster, where the factory fuel return line would come from.

No problem man. Its a nice kit and has everything you need.

I read through millions of threads before I found it. Buying all the little odds and ends is a headache.
