Trying to locate this car to see whatever became of it. I was the original owner.

Okay here's an update...
Went to MTO got a vehicle history report (weird that it wasnt showing up on Carfax) It shows Honda Finance owns the car. So I call there and they say they don't have the car. The file was closed. WTF?

Another update...
Spoke with the original dealership and they are clueless as to what happened.

I posted the VIN in hopes that whoever owns or acquires the car will someday Google it and come across this thread. About the other post you found. Yes that's me. I've already spoken to Doespike and Tyrant. Both are on the lookout.

 

Giving this a bump. It's been years but I'm still actively searching.
One additional clue that I thought of is that there is a perfectly round circular hole cut into the chassis in the trunk where the spare tire is supposed to sit.
This hole should not be there OEM. I put it there. If you have a yellow ITR chassis with that hole can you please check your VIN to see if it's a match?

It's a mystery what happened to it. I want to know that it went to a good home. I want it back. Lot's of reasons.

 

Did a search on the vin and there is no record of a theft of the car or the car being written off as a total loss. I also car-faxed it and it came up for me as a 2000 ITR. Carfax shows four history records. It comes up on autocheck as well and autocheck shows two records for it.

That's where the trail goes cold. All that activity on the Carfax is mine. The car just vanished into thin air afterwards.

 

If honda finance closed their file on the car that would indicate to me that they took it as a trade in and then sold it, but nothing past your ownership of the car appears on a carfax so that is almost certainly ruled out. Maybe someone from honda finance bought it and is using it as a track car? Who knows. Really strange how it just disappeared. Good luck with the search. On the off chance I come across something interesting I'll let you know.

In Canada use carproof instead of carfax. Perhaps it's been exported from Ontario to another province.

I will for sure. It's not so much the $60 it costs to run the search. It's what it's going to cost when I find it that is causing me to hold off temporarily.

 

Goodluck. Its fascinating how much these cars mean to their previous owners even after they sold them and moved on. Don't know of any other cars that people try to track them down for years..

That is an interesting dilemma you face, no VIN search results and all. Do you think it maybe a system failure, or even more probable, an user error?

 

It will surface eventually. I'm surprised it hasn't yet.
