I have these 2 part numbers which I need to get a visual on but when I plug them into some of the oem honda parts site they arent pulling up the images to identify them can anyone help me out with these images or at least what part they are on the car?

This is for a 99-00 Si EM1

15810-P30-005
15825-P08-005

 

first one (15810-P30-005) is the VTEC solenoid (VTEC Spool Assembly)

second one (15825-P08-005) is the VTEC solenoid gasket/o-ring (you can see it in the furthest picture to the right... it's the black rubber. I'm pretty sure the VTEC solenoid comes with it anyway.

 

Is an oil leak from the vtec solenoid an indication thats its bad or is it just a matter of changing the seal?

 

You wont know (we wont know) until you try... Always start with the least expensive part first, so buy the o-ring and cross your fingers.

 

It's just a bad oil seal. It is very rare that the solenoid itself would be the problem.
