I just got a new (to me) car, which is in mint condition and it would be a good cruising car for the beach, but I'm wondering what the effect of salt/sand will be on it. I'll wash it the day afterwards of course...

i live on the east coast and when it snows they have salt all over the roads. i dont know about sea water salt but i left salt and crap all over my car didnt wash it in the winter it still fine

The east coast winters are bad where im at! Im in Vermont. Thats why i buy a winter beater every year, this years ride is a 94 geo metro run's and looks great! Paid $250.00

 

beaters r0x0r!!! It's the only way to fly when it comes to New England winters. I was so happy that my Civic didn't have to plow through a winter of salty slush last year.

Also nice when it comes to parking in malls and at the movies. Sometimes anonymity is nice

As for beach salt, just wash the car once a week, wax it regularly and you'll be fine.
