Switching to power options?
My cousin has a 1991 DX sedan that has been sitting for a few years which he now wants me to freshen up. Among the things he wants to see if I can do is install the power options that came in LX's like power windows and locks. I found an automatic LX at a local junkyard in mint condition and was wondering what do I need from this vehicle to make give my cousin's car power windows and locks? Thanks
for the easiest swap i would imagine that you would need to take almost everything associated with it. especially if you want it to work right. i believe that the power door locks have their own relay. i took apart a 4door's under dash harness to fig out how the power mirrors were set up at the junk yard. and now i have power and folding mirrors in my 90 dx crx

door locks will be the easiest to do... you need all the actuators, as well as the relay inside the driver door, and if you want to do it nice, the front door cards with switches.
i did this but it took maybe 6 hours for me to figure it all out and run wires, as I did not take the harnesses.

i did this to my 91 dx and sourced the parts off my junker lx. the list includes:
all 4 door lock actuator/latch assys
all 4 window regulator/motors assys
all 4 door electrical harnesses
main interior harness
door panels with window switches
drivers interior door handle with lock switch
both power mirrors
mirror switch (its easier if you just put in the power mirrors while your at it)
door lock control unit from inside drivers door
make sure that if your car has the auto seatbelts that the car you source your parts from has it too, or else they wont work. i did a complete interior swap with this and i'll just let you know the whole job is a pain in the ***, but if you have the time and patience, it worth it to do the job right. just to warn you, the main interior harness goes across under the dash, down to the back on both sides, and goes the the headlights on both sides, so this will take some time to get out of the donor car without bitching it up.

Ex's are rare as hell on the North East. If I have my iPod then all the patience will be there, lol. Yeah I had a feeling I would need to tear everything apart but whatever it's a good time to clean stuff up and replace certain parts.
