Default Motor / Engine Identification

I just recieved my Black top SOHC ZC tonight. The Block has ZC stamped on the front and the back lower right side has PM6 2-1. The head has PM3-2 stamped and a circle stamp that says 91 or Z1 kinda hard to read. There are a few odd things like the exhaust manifold heat shield has what appears to an exhaust of its own.

Here are a few pics:

Where'd you get that from? Not only does it look like it's got high miles and infrequent oil changes, but it looks like it was rained on a few times with the valve cover off

Japan Star motors out of Albany NY.

I have another head it has about 20,000 or less miles on it. Its a D16Y7 head milled .05 inches (or 1.27mm) the exhaust ports are ported and polished and it has a Skunk2 adj. cam gear on it. Also have a D16Y8 intake manifold port matched to a 97 GSR TB fully polished. Just not sure if want to add the head on the older block not knowing it will handle the higher compression. The intake manifold is going on the motor regaurdless...

Here are a few pics:

Cool. Would you mind taking a few close-ups of your porting job? Thanks.

nothing weird with it at all. the exhaust thing was there because this was a automatic carbed model. the exhaust shield heated the incoming air for the carb

Sure i can take more pics of the porting. I did all the porting and polishing on the TB, intake manifold and head by hand.

So this was a carbed model, so i'm guessing it is a D16Z1 then? I wasnt sure if circle stamp next to PM3-2 said 91 or Z1. But i think the D16Z1 was a carbed ZC.
Also should I take the head off and have it hot tanked to clean it? Or is better not to pull the head and clean it by hand and with what?

RadeX7 havent had a chance to take new pics yet. The head is still wrapped in plastic after getting it cleaned and valve leak checked. I'll post it when i unwrap it.
