Help me identify my engine zc
Hi all, im new here. Im from Malaysia. Just installed this SOHC VTEC engine to my ej6. The engine got ZC stamped on it. It got 2 solenoids on it. 2 other solenoids @gearbox. So total is 4 solenoids under my hood. VTEC kicked in crazily @5500rpm, cutoff @7200 approx . Im new to honda, asking google but theres no info about ZC dual vtec

For more detailed info remove the exhaust shield and look at the head code directly above the middle of the exhaust manifold. Type that number in and you will know what head you have on that block.

00 EX D16Y8 5sp------P2J-3 "99" stamped on right side
It's a Y8 head on a ZC block. Also, your dizzy is broken.

Yes. It's a basic ZC bottom end using a Y8 dual stage head, and if I had to lay a bet, I would say the motor was set up for fuel efficiency. That's the only sane reason to use a dual stage vtec head in a mini-me.

With a vtec controller, but you don't want it to kick in earlier. Honda engineers put a lot of time and effort into setting cam profiles with vtec to maintain proper power and torque curves, as well as good fuel efficiency. I guarantee you aren't as smart as they are.
