1998 Accord Sound System
OK so I just bought an 1998 accord and the sound system is completely stock. Now I'm good on the deck and 6x9 in the back, my problem is the tweeters in the dash. I'm curious if the wiring will meet up in the door somewhere or is it seperate from it( and if so does this mean I won't have any use for the crossover) I've installed speakers before but I've never done components. I'm not sure if this is too complex and should just let a pro do it, but I'm always up for a try. Just asking for an opinion
I have a 1999 and when I installed an after-market stereo, there was nothing for a 3rd set of speakers, just the wiring for the front and rear. My best guess [without actually looking, the wires for the front split off before they hit the front doors.
I haven't replaced my speakers [yet, it's on my list for this summer] so I can't say 100% sure, but I don't see why not.

Sorry I should have clarified. It's an EX, they used components in the front which is why they call it a six speaker system. I was curious where this split would be if I did try to do it and if I did have to do it this way does that mean it would have it's own crossover. I did the stereo today and it wasn't too bad but I can see this isn't going to be the a walk in the park. I'm just wanna know what to expect
Just looked in the ETM and it shows all speaker wires, except the left rear, going through the left or right fuse box, left to left and right to right. For the left front speakers the inputs to the driver's side fuse box are I11 (+) and I3 (-), the door outputs are G13 (+) and G12 (-) while the tweeter outs are I10 (+) and I2 (-). For the right front speakers the in put to the passenger's side fuse box are I2 (+) and I3 (-), the door outputs are F13 (+) and F12 (-) while the tweeter outs are I11 (+) and I10 (-).
I see no mention of a cross over in the wiring, suggest looking at a honda parts site to see if the LX and EX door speakers have different part numbers, would be easy to have cross overs built on the the speakers and would be upgrading the LX sound system to 6 speaker really easy.

Hello,
I would think it is somewhere under the dash and the wires from the door speakers connect to a junction in the dash for the tweeters(dash speakers) I have a 2001 and while I have not removed mine, I was in the local junk yard 2 weeks ago and saw one pulled out of the mounting hole. I did not see a connector on it but I did not look to close.

This is a diagram of the components of the speaker system, it looks like there is a connector for the tweeter.
If I may ask if it works well enough, why are you disconecting or removing your tweeters?
I was going to change my system over to an aftermarket one for using my Ipod with out a tape adapter . I had a 6 disc/ tape deck Honda radio in my car when I bought it I wound up buying a single disc/tape deck and a connector that plugged into the back of the radio (on the non built in CD changer, there is a plug for adding an external one) and the other end into my Ipod, so as to preserve the factory look (and not entice crooks)
Good luck with your car

Hello,
I just came back from the local Junk yard and was looking into a 1999 Honda Accord EX when I remembered your question. I popped out one of the in dash tweeters and pulled it out of the hole, about 3-4 inches down on the wire (which was black and white) was a black connector that connnected into another wire. I was not able to follow the wire all the way in the dash but I am convinced that ether the tweeters tie into the door speakers ether at the radio connector or a box or connector in the dash.
They do not connect at the door, I was able to see the door speaker wires and they run under the dash.
My advice to you is to simply go to a junk yard and buy two junk yard accord tweeters, clip the two wires (black and black/white) off at the speaker, then take that connector and wire your tweeters to it and simply plug it in, thereby not having to cut any of the car wiring
Cheers

I already said where they go if they are OEM. I just ain't allow to scan the ETM and post the page here. But if you can find an electronic copy of the 98-99 ETM (P/N 61S8003EL) look at section 150, Photos 85 and 91 and views 60 and 67

thanks guys, either way I assume that if I can get a wire harness for each they should just plug in to the stock's old harnesses. I just wasn't sure if there was a connector for the tweeter, but now I know. I guess the car can sort it out itself after that then. lol
