just a bought del sol... questions
Just bought a Del Sol and have a few questions
I'm a girl and know close to nothing about cars so could you guys please help me out???
My car doesn't have a lock on the trunk, just a hole. Where can I get a lock and is it possible to get it to match the key I already have for my ignition??
Is it possible to just fill the hole in or is that more trouble than it's worth? I'm planning on re-painting the car anyways because it has had body work done to it and still needs a little more filling in/sanding AND the clear coat is totally gone. (I was going to post pics but it's not working and I don't feel like resizing them and ****.)
Thanks!

If you go to the honda dealership and give them your cars vin # they can order you one that will work with your ignition key. "As long as the ignition was never replaced it will work." They can also install it for you.
It should not be so expensive. I'ts just a little lock cylinder. it should take no time to put it in. I would guess under 100$ installed. Call up honda and ask.

as far as the filling it in question
would require a lot of prep work sanding painting and you would have to purchase a silonioid and pay someone to install it
(much cheaper to just buy the cylinder from honda)

pick up a lock on ebay for like 15-20 bucks. bring your key and the new lock to a locksmith and they will rekey the lock to your key for roughly 15-20 bucks. install and call it a day. if your del sol is a 95 or newer you should have a trunk pop next to your gas pop if you just want to fill the whole and forget about it
filling it in wouldn't be that much, as long as you have a welder... just weld up the hole, bondo and blam.. and as buff said, i thought these cars have trunk pop's from the cabin...
but if you could get a aftermarket lock rekeyed and spend 50 or less that would be your best bet.

Welcome to the Sol! (Milano Red RULES! lol)
This has me thinking, how hard is it to add the trunk lever? I already have most of my interior out, and this would be nice to have. I hate having to turn off the radio, just to get in the trunk. I mean I figure I'd have to get the parts, did they change anything between the years to facilitate this?
Thanks!

called honda and the cylinder is around $80 but it comes with a different key. they said i would have to go to a locksmith to get it to match my door/ignition key anyways. i'm thinkin aftermarket...
definately go aftermarket since you have to get it rekeyed at a locksmith anyways, or if you have a junkyard close you can prob get one off of a civic or sol for next to nothing then have that rekeyed
