B18B rod cap will not go back on.. wtf?

B18B rod cap will not go back on.. wtf?
Yeah, So I got a free LS motor with 1 of the rod caps removed along with the bearings from that rod. I tried putting the rod cap back on for now and it wont slide on. I don't want to force it and strip the stud threads..
any ideas why this would happen? I have 2 sets of d16 rods the caps slide on and off with ease.
